Description Supervise assigned undergraduate labs. Support continuous upgrade of experiments and design of new experiments using latest scientific methods, techniques, and computer software.
Develop new undergraduate labs as requested by the department. Assess existing labs to troubleshoot any problems that arise.
Assist in training, assessment and support of all teaching assistants (TAs) in different lab sections.
Coordinate the planning, maintenance and repair for functional equipment in laboratories.
Write proposals for support of new laboratory equipment.
Consult with vendors on new products and research other lab programs at peer institutions to keep up-to-date on the latest technologies and techniques used in lab experiments.
Serve on committees as needed, and advise faculty and students on projects as requested.
The following are additional tasks that fall under the responsibility of the Lab Engineer
Prepare procedures and manuals for education and research (SOPs)
Responsible for lab staffing
Prepare manual and procedure regarding Safety and rules of conduct in Zewail City Environmental laboratory;
Produce laboratory manuals on analytical procedures and instrumental operations including testing new procedures
Develop lab equipments data base (supplier, initial cost, catalogues, maintenance procedure & cost, calibration, SOP, operation logger, etc.)
Develop system for checking on the inventories (glassware, instruments, electrodes, recorders, data loggers, stirrers etc.)
Perform financial & asset management of lap equipment
Develop Lab equipment Maintenance programme of the lab and its facilities via in house or via service-contracts;
Plan lab budget

Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Science 3 years experience in engineering lab environment Evidence of experience providing lab safety training Evidence of experience in lab equipment procurement Evidence of experience in equipment maintenance contracting for an educational engineering laboratory setting Evidence of familiarity with Mat lab and Lab view
